Borderline Cases: One in the Hand
March 20 —- April 24, 2022
A line is a path, a narrative, a life. Rarely does it march forward straight, if straight at all. The curiosity of a meandering line pulls the eye, the body, the mind along for the ride. The particular ways that a line bends, curves, squiggles, and vibrates evinces the vitality of a moment and an individual. A signature.
Luis Jacob’s solo exhibition Borderline Cases: One in the Hand looks at the autobiography of line work and how artworks shift, change, and speak to each other across time. Consisting of works from 1993-2020, this exhibition explores how traces of the hand, the foot, and the pendulum reveal a logic to a process and practice that is ever changing.
